Rules

 

1. Players are required to wear gloves and shin pads and are encouraged to elbow pads and helmets. Goalies are permitted to wear regular hockey equipment. Players under the age of 19 will have to wear a helmet.
2. Teams will consist of a maximum of 20 registered players. Five players (plus goalie) are allowed on the playing surface during play.
3. Teams are guaranteed 3 games.
4. All games are 3/12 minute, running time. A face-off at center starts the game. There are no other stoppages in play unless due to an injury and penalty. All player substitutions are made on the fly.
5. Each playing surface will have a referee who has full authority on governing the game. Only the designated captain of each team may approach the referee on a ruling. Time will not stop during this process and the referee may call a delay of game. Disputes about time will be resolved by the Referee and his/her decision will be final.
6. There is no grace period for the start of games. If a team is late for the start of the game, they forfeit the game.
7. The game timekeeper will record the actual start and finish of each game and will also be responsible for keeping track of the number of goals and infractions each team has per game.
8. Minor infractions/penalties include the following: shoving/pushing; tripping; slashing; elbowing etc.
9. Major infractions/penalties will be called for: verbal abuse to officials, spectators or opponents; fighting; intentional slashing; intentional body checking.
10. Fighting is not tolerated and results in automatic ejection of the player from the tournament.
11. Verbal abuse toward the referee will result in immediate ejection of the player from the game. A second incidence of verbal abuse will result in the ejection of the player from the tournament.
